Thermal Protector Switching Guide: Safety and Reliability of Electrical Systems
Thermal protectors, also known as temperature switches or temperature control switches, are electromechanical devices that utilize a bimetallic disc as the temperature sensing element. When an electrical appliance is functioning normally, the bimetallic disc remains in a relaxed state, and the contacts are disconnected. However, when the temperature rises to a predetermined operating value, the bimetallic disc rapidly deforms, causing the contacts to open and interrupting the circuit. This immediate action cuts off the power supply, effectively preventing the device from overheating and potentially causing fires or other catastrophic failures.
